The National Theatre in Prague is one of the most famous theaters in the Czech Republic. This Neo-Renaissance building was designed by Josef Zítek and the foundation stone was laid in 1868 and came from the mountain Říp. National Theatre managed to unite the inhabitants of the Czech Republic and is one of the proofs of Czech nationality. This place is where you should go if you want to witness the best operas, plays and ballets from the classical Czech and international repertoire. Inside the theatre you will find beautiful stage curtains and the ceiling decorations of eight painted female figures representing the different art forms.
