Basic Information

Have you ever wondered where in Prague the smallest street with the smallest houses is? If yes, you shouldn’t miss the Golden Lane in the complex of Prague Castle. The street is named after the story of alchemist living in the street during the reign of Rudolf II. Unfortunately the stories aren’t true, but once in 1831 local people heard a big detonation in one of the houses. When fire fighters came to the house and distinguished fire, they found an old dead man with a yellow stone in his hand. Later on the stone was proved to be gold. Houses in this street were built so tiny, because the emperor Rudolf II needed a place for his marksmen to live in, but there was a big lack of space.
